Explore Tab

The Explore tab (View > Explore or <F6>) is used to organize objects, create relationships between objects, and select objects you want to work on.

Across the top of the Explore tab are the following icons, which open a different area for you to explore:

System - Used to create / view the global folder structure of the community. You can add objects to folders.
Favorites - Opens a personal area where you can create your own folders and organize and work on objects you are interested in.
Work Exchange - Displays the work tasks that are assigned to you.
Focus - Displays a temporary whiteboard work area where you can make any object the root of a structure.

The System, Favorites, and Focus areas all let you drag objects into them. In System area, you need to create folders first, and then you can drag objects into them. In Favorites, you can create folders, but you can also can drag objects directly onto the root Favorites folder.

Click the plus (+) symbol to expand any structure. Click an item (whether a folder or search or object) in any area of the Explore tab to open that item in the Content pane.

System

The System section of the Explore tab lets you view or manage the global folder structure of the community.

Here you can create folders, add objects to folders, and set security on folders. You can also use this area as a quick and easy way to create relationships between objects.

Favorites

Favorites is a personal area of AssetWise, where you can create personal folders, and organize the objects (including searches) that you are interested in. Only you can see the folders you create in Favorites. You can also use Favorites as a quick and easy way to create relationships between objects.

You can create your own personal folder structure and drag objects into those folders as needed. You can also drag objects onto the root Favorites folder.

When you click the Favorites root folder, or any folder or object below it, that item opens in the Content pane.

Note: Be careful removing items from Favorites. Selecting an object in Favorites and clicking the Delete icon on the action bar permanently deletes the object from the community. If you want to remove an object from Favorites without deleting the object, you need to select the folder containing the object, then in the Content pane expand that object's topic and click the Delete icon (X) next to the object you want to remove.

Work Exchange

The Work Exchange Folder is a task manager, presenting assigned tasks to users and assisting them in workflow management, presented as a familiar tree-structured navigator.

Focus

Clicking the Focus icon on the Explore tab displays a whiteboard work area allowing any object to be made the root of a structure. When you drag items to the whiteboard it displays a tree view of the data and any child/parent relationships. This is useful when working with virtual item groups and virtual items.

The whiteboard is a temporary work area and will be cleared when you click any of the other icons on the Explore tab (System, Favorites, Work Exchange).
